Cardiff Fuel Bills among the highest in the UK!

AT LIVECO WE AIM TO REDUCE FUEL BILLS TO A FRACTION OF NORMAL EXPECTATIONS – IF YOU LIVE IN CARDIFF THIS ARTICLE IN WALES ONLINE IS VERY INTERESTING…

Many householders in Wales are struggling to pay energy bills

Householders in Cardiff are paying the highest electricity bills in Britain – even before the latest 9% price hike.

City residents in many cases pay more than consumers in London, Edinburgh and Manchester, according to latest Government figures.

And more than a million Welsh customers are set to be hit by price risesannounced by Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE), parent company of supplier Swalec, earlier this week.

The 9% hikes to gas and electricity payments, set to take effect on October 15, will add £8.53 a month on to the typical monthly direct debit dual fuel customer – taking the average annual bill to £1,274.

Consumers in Cardiff pay on average the highest annual direct debit electricity bills in Britain, according to the DECC’s most recent quarterly energy prices report, forking out £455 a year.

This means customers who pay their electricity bills by direct debit spend some £21 more than the UK yearly average of £434.

Only residents in Belfast pay more – £504 – but the DECC statistics state there is “limited competition in electricity” in the city.

Direct debit electricity customers in London pay £430 on average, while the figure is £445 in Edinburgh and £431 in Manchester.

Cardiff consumers paying their electricity bills by credit card spend on average £486 a year, compared to a British average of £472.
